About Me

Hey! My name is Aquillia Mikel, but please call me Q! I create visuals for Black owned businesses to encourage consumers to adopt a #BuyBlack lifestyle.

To make it even more plain- think of what I do as creating commercials that make Black people feel special and HEARD. I love creating these stories because I believe that we have power in ourselves and our dollars, and we are the impetus we need to see the change in our communities. I also know that with our lucrative amount of collective buying power, we deserve to be seen as the conscious consumers that we are. I work closely with Black businesses to create the stories they want to tell about their own products so that the rest of the community is drawn to its purpose.

Quite frankly, I was completely tired of corporations and media outlets using Black consumers in their commercials to draw us in, but not taking the time to learn our stories or invest money back in our communities. So, I decided to change the narrative- and here we are.

When Rebrand first started, I initially started it as a one day event that served as a Black Friday shopping alternative for Black businesses. Over time, Rebrand has evolved into a storytelling platform that connects brand and consumer through shared experiences and genuine interest in one another.

And, in other, more personal news:

I was raised in Chicago, BUT I was born in sunny Palmdale, CA.

When I grow up, I want to be a mix of Solange, Vashtie, and SZA with a dash of Tracee Ellis Ross and a dollop of Myleik Teele- with everything served on a platter of Michelle Obama.

Music festivals and dusting off my passport 3-4 times a year makes me a very happy girl.
